Chandigarh, September 1:- Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday presented a government resolution in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha regarding the nationwide ‘Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ dedicated to the 650th Prakash Purab of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, which was unanimously passed by the House.
Presenting the resolution, the Chief Minister said that the campaign, which was launched on July 29, 2026, on the occasion of Guru Purnima, will continue till February 20, 2027. The objective of the campaign is to take the message of equality, affection, compassion, service, devotion, social justice and social harmony of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji to every individual in society and further strengthen social unity among different sections.
The Chief Minister said that the campaign was launched from Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, the birthplace of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji. On this occasion, urns filled with the sacred soil of the birthplace were worshipped and handed over to representatives of different states across the country. In Haryana, the Kalash Yatra carrying the sacred soil from the birthplace of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji reached the state on August 4, 2026, and a grand ceremony was organized in its welcome at the Mata Sheetla Temple complex in Gurugram on August 5, 2026. The Kalash brought to Haryana are being taken to the district and village levels, where devotees are mixing the sacred soil with the soil of local temples and taking the message of social harmony of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji to every household.
Samrasta Yatra to be held in Haryana from October 5 to November 5
Shri Nayab Singh Saini said that the Samrasta Yatra will reach Haryana on October 5 and continue till November 5, 2026. Entry gates and reception points will be prepared across the state along the route of the Yatra and public meetings will be organized. Besides, special interactions will be organized in hostels, colleges, universities and coaching centres from November 26, 2026 to January 15, 2027.
Brought new awareness in society through the Bhakti Movement
Shri Nayab Singh Saini said that Shri Guru Ravidas Ji was born 649 years ago on the sacred day of Magh Purnima in the holy land of Kashi. His personality was as cool and radiant as the full moon. Through the Bhakti Movement, he carried out the courageous and historic work of social reform. At a time when society was entangled in casteism, superstition and discrimination, he brought a new awakening.
The Chief Minister said that the immortal message of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, ‘Man Changa Tau Kathauti Mein Ganga’, teaches us that if the intention is pure, feelings are sacred and actions are for the welfare of society, even the simplest place becomes a pilgrimage. He did not confine spirituality to palaces and temples, but connected it with the hut of the poor, the sweat of the working people and service to humanity.
He said that Shri Guru Ravidas Ji is considered a prominent saint of the Nirgun Bhakti Movement. There was no place for caste, class or external show in his devotion. He is considered a disciple of Swami Ramanand Ji and, from this perspective, Sant Kabir and Guru Ravidas Ji are regarded as representatives of the same broad Bhakti tradition.
Prime Minister bowed at the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji
The Chief Minister said that expressing his reverence for Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited his birthplace Seer Govardhanpur in 2016 and bowed his head there. At that time, he expressed his resolve to develop the birthplace. In 2019, the foundation stone of a major plan for the expansion and development of the birthplace was laid and ?50 crore was released for the development works of its first phase.
He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Memorial and Museum in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, on August 12, 2023, at a cost of more than ?100 crore. Besides, in February 2024, development works worth around ?32 crore were inaugurated at the birthplace and the foundation stone of the Sant Ravidas Museum and Park, costing around ?62 crore, was laid. An art gallery and museum depicting the life, philosophy and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji are to be developed there.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in a special programme organized at Dera Sachkhand Ballan on February 1 on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.
Guru Ravidas Dham to be built at a cost of ?124 crore at Umri in Haryana
The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government is constructing a grand Guru Ravidas Dham on 5 acres of land at Umri in Kurukshetra. The Bhumi Pujan of the project was performed on March 15, 2024. The project will cost around ?124 crore. A 125-foot-high statue of Sant Ravidas Ji will also be installed in the complex.
He said that the Bani of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji has been given a place of honour in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This clearly shows that his Bani transcended the boundaries of sect, region and language.
The Chief Minister said that Begampura means a place where there is no sorrow, no fear, no injustice, no discrimination and no exploitation. Bhagat Shiromani Mirabai also regarded Guru Ravidas Ji as her Guru in her compositions, which is a testimony to his spiritual stature and widespread acceptance.
He humbly appealed to all members of the Vidhan Sabha to cooperate in making the Yatra successful so that the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji could reach every household. The Chief Minister said that this House appeals to all the people of Haryana, especially various saints, mahants, religious leaders and Dera heads, temple committees and social-cultural organizations, to participate in the programmes being organized in connection with the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’.
Our resolve is to strengthen social harmony and brotherhood
The Chief Minister said that this House pays homage to Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji while remembering the teachings he gave for all humanity and resolves to celebrate the nationwide ‘Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’, dedicated to his 650th Prakash Purab, in a dignified manner.
He said that as a true expression of reverence for Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, there is a need to take his immortal teachings to every citizen of Haryana so that the proud tradition of mutual cooperation and brotherhood in the state remains intact.
Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini said that with deep reverence, he appealed before the august House that the resolution be unanimously passed on behalf of the people of the state on the occasion of the 650th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.
