Chandigarh, December 5:- Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini, with the aim of making the functioning of the department more transparent and public interest, directed the officers that if any tender of any department related to development works in rural areas is issued on the HEW portal, then its information should be made available to the concerned Sarpanches immediately through SMS, so that the rural representatives can get correct, timely and accurate information about the construction works. This will further improve the quality of monitoring and implementation. The public will also get information about tenders through this portal, which will further increase transparency in the works.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini was chairing a review meeting of the progress of the budget announcements of the Development and Panchayat Department related to the financial year 2025-26 at the Civil Secretariat late on Thursday evening. The Chief Minister directed the officers to complete all the schemes set to further strengthen the development works in rural areas on time.
He said that the state government's goal is to pave the unpaved roads of the villages whose panchayats have a population of more than 1000, so that the people can get transportation facilities. It was informed in the meeting that so far 639 roads have been paved, while 303 works are in progress.
The Chief Minister said that with the aim of increasing the participation of women and providing them with a convenient place for meetings and other activities, the state government is getting Mahila Chaupal constructed in every village. In the first phase, 754 villages have been selected, out of which the construction work of 480 women's chaupals has been completed, while the work of the remaining 274 chaupals is in progress.
It was informed in the meeting that under the first phase, 994 e-libraries have been renovated and furniture has been installed in rural areas. Books and computers will be made available in these libraries soon. Apart from this, 415 indoor gyms have been established in the rural areas of the state so far.
Similarly, the construction work of community halls in every district for various Scheduled Castes is also going on at a fast pace. So far, 202 out of 366 panchayats have been completed, while the construction work of 140 halls is ongoing. The Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure time-bound progress of all development projects and to expedite the schemes by giving priority to transparency, accountability and public participation.
The meeting was attended by Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, Commissioner and Secretary of the Finance Department Mr. Mohammad Shine, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Saket Kumar, Director of the Development and Panchayat Department Mr. Anish Yadav, Director of the Rural Development Department Mr. Rahul Narwal, OSD to the Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Singh Barkhalsa and Mr. Raj Nehru, among other officers.
