Hoshiarpur- ?Bahujan Samaj Party Punjab President and Chandigarh in-charge Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri, former member of Rajya Sabha, strongly condemned the decision of the Central government to dissolve the 59-year-old Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University Chandigarh and said that on the day when the entire Punjab is celebrating 'Punjab Day', the Central government has dealt a deep blow to the rights of Punjab by announcing this decision.
?"This decision is directly a conspiracy to snatch Panjab University from Punjab, which the Bahujan Samaj Party will not tolerate at any cost."
?He said that BSP Punjab strongly condemns this anti-democratic and anti-Punjab decision of the Central government because this decision is a direct robbery on the rights of Punjab. Dr. Karimpuri said that Punjab has a historical and legal right to Panjab University, and abolishing its administrative structure is a direct robbery on the rights of the state.
? Dr. Karimpuri warned the central government to immediately withdraw this decision without any delay and restore the elections of the Senate and Syndicate.
? He said that the Senate and Syndicate are the highest democratic institutions of the university. Dissolving them is a murder of academic and administrative autonomy as well as democracy.
? Dr. Karimpuri said that if the central government does not withdraw its decision, the Bahujan Samaj Party will intensify the struggle for the rights of Punjab and will firmly oppose the anti-Punjab policies of the central government.
He also appealed to all educational and political organizations of Punjab to unite on this issue. Karimpuri also appealed to Punjabis to be a part of the second phase of the BSP's Punjab Sambalo campaign to protect the rights of Punjab so that the people of Punjab can get rid of the anti-people decisions of the Punjab and Central governments.
On this occasion, Maninder Sherpuri Secretary Punjab, Sukhdev Bitta Secretary Punjab, Daljit Rai District President, Advocate Dharminder Dadra District General Secretary, Advocate Palwinder Mana Incharge Halka Chabbewal, Madan Singh Bains Incharge Halka Hoshiarpur, Yash Bhatti President Chabbewal, Surjit Mehmi President Hoshiarpur and other leaders were present.
