Hoshiarpur- Cabinet Minister Punjab Dr. Ravjot Singh, while addressing a press conference today, said that in the year 2022, the people of Punjab gave a big fatwa to the Aam Aadmi Party and formed the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said that since then, big decisions have been taken continuously to protect the interests of every section.
During this press conference held in the presence of Deputy Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai ??Krishan Singh Raudi, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa and MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab government has worked for the interests of farmers, laborers, poor and common man, but on the contrary, the BJP government at the center has always adopted a discriminatory attitude towards Punjab.
Be it the issue of farmers or any other issue, the central government is targeting Punjab on some pretext or the other. He said that now the Centre has cut off the ration cards of about 8 lakh families of Punjab, i.e. about 32 lakh beneficiaries, which highlights the anti-poor thinking.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that Punjab is geographically only 1.5 percent of India, but in every hour of crisis, the people of Punjab have taken care of the country. Be it a war situation across the border or the question of foodgrain supply, Punjab has always been at the forefront. Punjab produces 40 percent of the country's wheat and 26 percent of rice, despite this, the Central Government is continuously discriminating against Punjab. He said that the recent step of the Centre is a direct attack on the rights of the poor and needy, because ration cards are issued only to those sections who actually need it.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to protecting the rights of every common man and farmers and this conspiracy of the Center will not be allowed to succeed. He said that the entire country is seeing to what extent the BJP government can fall. Sometimes tactics like cutting votes and implementing SIR are adopted and now a conspiracy is being hatched to snatch ration from the poor families of Punjab. This step exposes the anti-poor face of the BJP. Dr. Ravjot Singh, while sharing region-wise information, said that ration cards of about 7 lakh beneficiaries are being cut in the Majha region of Punjab, about 5.50 lakh in the Doaba region and about 20 lakh in the Malwa region. If we talk about Hoshiarpur district, more than 1.38 lakh poor beneficiaries are suffering the consequences here. He said that this attitude of the BJP government is not only inhuman but is directly creating a crisis in the lives of the poor.
He reiterated that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party will fight this issue in every possible way and will not allow any injustice to be done to the common people. He said that the Punjab government stands with the poor, farmers and the common people and will fight on every platform to protect their rights.
