Karnal, June 26: Haryana's Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister and Chairman of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee, Karnal, Shyam Singh Rana, presided over a meeting of the Grievance Redressal Committee at the Panchayat Bhawan auditorium on Friday. Out of 12 grievances presented, 7 were resolved on the spot, while the task of re-investigating the remaining 5 was assigned to senior officials.
During the meeting, the Cabinet Minister instructed officials to conduct periodic field visits in their respective areas, keep a close watch on departmental tasks, and ensure their resolution so that minimal complaints reach the government and administration. He urged officials to understand their responsibility towards the public and prioritize resolving grievances and issues related to their basic needs and requirements.
Cabinet Minister Shyam Singh Rana deferred the complaint filed by the residents of DRP Enclave Colony (Sector-36) to the next meeting, as the relevant report had not been received. Regarding the complaint filed by Satish Kumar from Kunjpura village, the Minister directed that the matter be held over until a written settlement is reached and justice is secured for the complainant. Complainant Akhilesh raised an issue concerning Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Karnal. In response, the District Education Officer stated that schools are currently on summer vacation; an inspection would be conducted and an investigation report submitted once they reopen. The Minister deferred this matter to the next meeting.
A complaint from Surjeet Singh, a resident of Gondar village, concerned the Mining Department; he alleged that a contractor had violated the legal norms of the Department of Mines and Geology and was selling soil arbitrarily. The complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation report regarding this matter. To ensure the complainant's satisfaction, the Minister directed the ADC to conduct a fresh investigation into the case. During the meeting, Sushma Devi (wife of Rajkumar) lodged a complaint regarding repeated altercations over the presence of a liquor shop on the main road opposite the Yoga Ashram in village Karsadod. Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, MLA Jagmohan Anand and Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarnia suggested that relocating the liquor shop from in front of the Yoga Ashram was the appropriate course of action. Consequently, the Minister directed officials from the Excise and Taxation Department to take action while keeping the public interest in mind. He instructed the SDM of Nilokheri to conduct an inquiry to ensure justice for both parties and ordered that the matter be held over for the next meeting. Similarly, a complaint was raised by Anil Kumar, a resident of Alipur Khalsa (Tehsil Gharaunda), regarding the Pollution Control Board; he alleged that the wall of a company adjoined his house and that vibrations caused by the company's machinery had led to cracks in his home's walls, in addition to causing air and water pollution. In response, a Pollution Control Board official stated that, following the verification of the complaint, a show-cause notice had been issued to the company owner, and the issue would be resolved soon.
Present on the occasion were MLA Jagmohan Anand, MLA Yogendra Rana, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, BJP District President Praveen Lathar, Haryana Livestock Board Chairman Advocate Ashok Sirsi, and—representing the district administration—Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma and Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarnia, along with officials from various departments and nominated members of the Grievance Redressal Committee.
