Hoshiarpur:- Taking forward the Punjab government’s public welfare agenda, a total of Rs 16.75 million (approximately $1.6 million) was provided to 67 needy families in a town in Haryana today for construction of their pucca houses. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh handed over acceptance letters to the beneficiaries. Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab government has a clear goal to ensure that no citizen of the state remains homeless.
Providing safe and dignified houses to every needy family is one of the top priorities of the government. He said that this assistance is not only financial assistance but also a strong step towards bringing stability, security and self-respect in the lives of the poor and disadvantaged.
The Cabinet Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is implementing public welfare schemes at the grassroots level with transparency and sensitivity. The selection of eligible beneficiaries under the housing scheme has been done impartially so that only the truly needy get the benefits. Dr. Ravjot Singh also said that the government is continuously working to strengthen fundamental rights like education, health, employment and basic amenities as well as housing. He directed the officers to ensure timely and quality completion of construction works.
