Hoshiarpur:- Former MP and Chairman of the Prakash Rai Khanna and Smt. Kaushalya Devi Khanna Memorial Trust, Avinash Rai Khanna, recently organized an essay writing competition on the subject of 'Water Conservation' at the BSF camp in Kharkan. The soldiers who secured the top positions were honored by the Trust with awards and certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, Khanna stated that the BSF jawans are not only the sentinels of the borders but also protectors of the environment and nature's invaluable gift, water. He noted that by penning down their thoughts on water conservation, the soldiers have demonstrated their pro-environment mindset. He emphasized that if BSF personnel make water conservation a part of their duty, the world can undoubtedly be saved from the serious consequences arising from the future shortage of groundwater.
On this occasion, Khanna honored the top three female winners of the competition with cash prizes and certificates from the Trust. The winners included Sharmila (1st place), Sushmita Bhowmik (2nd place), and Arpita Mishra (3rd place). BSF IG C.D. Agarwal and Navdeep Sood were also present at the event.
