Chandigarh, December 10:- Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini today provided a big relief to the farmers of the state and released a total compensation of Rs 116 crore 15 lakh to 53,821 farmers for crop damage caused by heavy rains in the month of August-September. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana was also present on this occasion.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a press conference held at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday, said that the compensation amount released today includes Rs 35 crore 29 lakh for bajra crop, Rs 27 crore 43 lakh for cotton, Rs 22 crore 91 lakh for paddy and Rs 14 crore 10 lakh for guar. The payment of this amount has been started with immediate effect and the entire amount will go into the accounts of the beneficiary farmers in the next one week.
He said that due to heavy rains in Haryana in the last August-September month, flood conditions had arisen in many districts. He himself had visited the flood-affected areas and assessed the situation and the e-Shatipurti portal was opened by September 15 to compensate the farmers for the losses caused by the flood and appealed to the farmers to register the information about the crop damage on the portal.
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that the maximum loss was caused in 3 districts of the state. Out of these, the farmers of Charkhi Dadri have been released the maximum amount of Rs. 23 crore 55 lakh. Hisar district has been given Rs. 17 crore 82 lakh and Bhiwani has been given Rs. 12 crore 15 lakh. Even before this, the government has released Rs. 4 crore 72 lakh for compensation for loss of livestock, house damage and other useful items due to floods.
The Chief Minister said that 5 lakh 29 thousand 199 farmers have registered 31 lakh acres of area on the Shatipurti portal for the loss of crops of Kharif season 2025 due to natural calamities. After verification, 1 lakh 20 thousand 380 acres of agricultural area of ??53 thousand 821 farmers were found to have suffered loss.
Government stands with farmers in every situation
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that the state government stands shoulder to shoulder with farmers and if there is any loss to the farmer, the government compensates him. With this thinking, the government has given compensation to farmers in the last 11 years and Rs 15,448 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana so far.
Congress used to play dirty tricks with farmers, in the name of compensation they used to give cheques of Rs 2-5
The Chief Minister, targeting the opposition, said that these people know very well how Congress used to play dirty tricks with farmers. Since the time of the Congress, the Patwaris did not even verify the land properly, due to which the farmers did not get full compensation. The farmers who were given compensation were also given cheques of Rs 2-2 and Rs 5-5. During the 10 years of the Congress government's rule, a compensation amount of Rs 1,138 crore was released. Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that the Congress government could not even pay the farmers' compensation amount of Rs 269 crore. In the year 2014, when the people of the state gave the Bharatiya Janata Party a chance to serve the people, in the year 2015, the state government transferred the old money of the Congress government worth Rs 269 crore to the farmers' accounts.
