Haroli/Una, August 19 (Rajveer Chopra): An awareness program under the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" was organized on August 19, 2026, at 11:30 AM in Room No. 02 at Sant Baba Dhangu Wale Gujjar Government College, Beetan. The event was held under the joint auspices of the Youth Red Cross Club, Rover and Ranger Unit, National Service Scheme (NSS), Anti-Drug Cell, and Electoral Literacy Club.
As part of the program, students and college staff took an 'e-Pledge' against substance abuse on August 18 and 19, 2026. Through this e-pledge, participants resolved to abstain from intoxicants and to spread awareness about a drug-free society.
The primary objective of the program was to sensitize students to the adverse effects of intoxicants and alcohol, and to inspire them to lead healthy, disciplined, and responsible lives free from substance abuse. Discussions specifically focused on the social, physical, and mental repercussions of drug abuse.
At the beginning of the program, Dr. Butta Ram, Nodal Officer of the Electoral Literacy Club, extended a warm welcome to B.K. Asha, Centre In-charge of the Brahma Kumaris (Rakkar Colony, Una, H.P.), and her team. He commended the efforts being made by the Brahma Kumaris in the field of de-addiction.
College Principal Dr. Sumiksha Gupta welcomed the resource persons and their team while motivating the students to stay away from drugs. She urged the students to remain drug-free themselves and to spread the message of a drug-free life within their families and society. She emphasized that only healthy and drug-free youth can play a pivotal role in building a healthy and developed nation.
On this occasion, B.K. Asha, Centre In-charge of the Brahma Kumaris (Rakkar Colony, Una), provided the students with detailed information regarding the physical, mental, and social ill-effects of substance abuse. He inspired the students to adopt positive thinking, self-discipline, and a healthy lifestyle.
Students participated enthusiastically in the event and pledged to spread awareness against substance abuse. Prof. Shivendra Srivastava (NSS In-charge) and members of all associated clubs and units played a significant role in making the event a success.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Butta Ram expressed his gratitude to the entire team from Brahmakumaris, Rakkad Colony, Una, for inspiring the students and supporting the 'Drug-Free India' campaign. The core message of the event was that "drug-free youth are the cornerstone of a healthy society and a strong nation."
