Hoshiarpur: The long-standing demand of millions of followers of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas reached a historic milestone today when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Punjab, announced that Adampur Airport would be named after Guru Ravidas.
This significant announcement comes a few months after MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal forcefully raised the issue during Zero Hour in the last session of Parliament, appealing to the central government to respect the beliefs and sentiments of the Ravidassia community by naming the airport after Guru Ravidas.
Reacting to the announcement, Dr. Raj Kumar said he felt fortunate to have raised this sacred issue on every available platform. He said, “I am fortunate that I first raised this matter in the Punjab Assembly when I was an MLA, and later in Parliament as an MP. Today, I am extremely happy and satisfied to see this demand fulfilled.”
He said that this decision has boosted the faith and morale of millions of devotees for whom Guru Ravidas is a guiding spiritual force. Dr. Chabbewal also thanked the Punjab government for sending a formal resolution to Parliament in support of renaming Adampur Airport in honor of Guru Ravidas. He said that the combined efforts of state and central representatives played a crucial role in achieving this outcome.
This decision is being widely welcomed across Punjab and among Ravidassia followers worldwide, who see it as a long-awaited recognition of the legacy and teachings of Guru Ravidas.
