Hansi: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rahul Narwal, and as part of a special awareness campaign launched by the district administration with the objective of completely curbing illegal drugs in the district, awareness camps were organized on Friday in the villages of Sisay Bolan and Kaliraman. During these camps, villagers were sensitized to the adverse effects of drug abuse and were administered a pledge to stay away from drugs and to strive towards making society drug-free.
These awareness camps were led by the Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate (CMGGA), Pratiksha. Teams from the Health Department present at the camps conducted health check-ups for the villagers and provided information regarding the prevention of various diseases. Health workers provided detailed information regarding the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures for serious ailments such as HIV/AIDS, emphasizing that awareness remains the most effective means of protection against this disease.
Addressing the youth and women present at the camps, CMGGA Pratiksha stated that drug abuse destroys not only the individual but the entire family and society. She asserted that inspiring the youth to channel their energies into sports, education, and positive activities is the greatest imperative of the hour. Appealing to the villagers, she urged them to extend their cooperation in guiding anyone in their vicinity who may have fallen prey to drug addiction back onto the right path, and to actively participate in the administration's anti-drug campaign.
In her address, Pratiksha remarked, "Drug abuse constitutes the greatest impediment to the development of society. We must collectively foster an environment where the youth can stay away from drugs and build a bright future for themselves. This campaign, being spearheaded by the district administration, will only achieve success if every citizen fulfills their responsibility within it. We must not only be aware ourselves but also strive to create awareness among others."
During the camps, villagers were provided with detailed information regarding the physical, mental, and social harm caused by drug abuse. Additionally, information regarding the de-addiction services and helplines operated by the administration was shared with the community. The villagers, in turn, pledged to extend their full cooperation toward the creation of a drug-free society. On this occasion, employees of the Health Department, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and officials and employees from other concerned departments were present.
