Hoshiarpur- The affidavit filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding DA-DR of employees and pensioners clearly reflects the government’s intention to discontinue it. However, as long as courts exist in the country, the government should also think carefully before taking an anti-employee decision. These views were expressed by employee leader Kulwant Saini in a press release issued here today.
He said that in the affidavit filed by the government, it has been stated that the Punjab Government is not bound to give DA to employees and pensioners twice a year on the basis of the pattern of the Central Government. The announcement or date of payment of DA is a policy decision of the government, which will be implemented keeping in view the financial resources of the government. The government’s claim that granting dearness allowance is not a legal obligation, but depends on the condition of the treasury, is completely irresponsible and anti-employee.
Kulwant Saini said that is the government, which is spending crores of rupees on advertisements in Punjab, actually improving the condition of the treasury? Is this not a financial burden on Punjab and its people? He further said, “Since the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ government has come to power, it has exploited the working class through anti-employee decisions.”
Mr. Saini said that the government will have to regret this mistake, and in the coming days, not just one but several employee organizations will come out on the streets protesting against the government, and we will show them that if employees can make a government, they will not hesitate to remove it as well, and employees know how to secure their rights.
