Chandigarh, March 12:- Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that the state government has nominated 100 health institutions as First Referral Units with the aim of strengthening other health services in the state under the National Health Mission. The aim of this initiative is to provide better medical facilities to the people living in rural and remote areas at a timely manner so that patients can get immediate treatment in serious cases.
She said that these FRUs are being developed to provide 24-hour emergency services. Important facilities like maternity services, newborn care and blood collection will be made available at these centers, which will enable immediate and effective medical help in emergency situations related to mothers and newborns.
The Health Minister said that these First Referral Units will act as an important link between primary health centres and tertiary hospitals. The government is paying special attention to strengthening the infrastructure in these centres, deploying expert medical staff and making the referral system fast and effective.
He said that through this initiative, the state government aims to bring about a significant reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Haryana. With the strengthening of these FRUs, timely quality treatment will be available to pregnant women and newborns, which will improve the access and quality of health services across the state.
Out of the 100 health institutions in the state that have been nominated as First Referral Units, 5 institutions are in Ambala district. Apart from these, 4 government health institutions in Bhiwani, 2 in Charkhi Dadri, 5 in Faridabad, 5 in Fatehabad, 4 in Mahendragarh, 5 in Nuh, 4 in Palwal, 4 in Panjkula, 4 in Panipat, 4 in Rewari, 4 in Rohtak, 5 in Sirsa, 5 in Sonipat and 4 in Yamunanagar district have been nominated as FRUs.
