Checking of 55 school buses in the district under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme

Hoshiarpur - Under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme, a committee formed within the district and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and Senior Police Captain Surendra Lamba checked 55 school buses in the district by the Assistant Transport Officer. Assistant Transport Officer Hoshiarpur Sandeep Bharti informed that during this strict checking, 13 buses were challaned for violating the instructions given under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme.

Hoshiarpur - Under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme, a committee formed within the district and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and Senior Police Captain Surendra Lamba checked 55 school buses in the district by the Assistant Transport Officer. Assistant Transport Officer Hoshiarpur Sandeep Bharti informed that during this strict checking, 13 buses were challaned for violating the instructions given under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme.
He said that among them, 2 buses with no documents, fitness certificate were stopped in different police stations. Apart from the transport department, the district traffic police also separately issued challans to the school buses violating the rules.
   The Assistant Transport Officer also appealed to the principals of all the schools in the district to strictly instruct the school bus owners related to their schools to keep the necessary documents of their school buses. He said that some of the challaned buses were carrying more children than the seating capacity, which is against the law (Safe School Vehicle Scheme). He also appealed to all the school drivers not to use mobile phones while driving the bus, it often causes accidents. In this regard, he also appealed to the District Education Officer (Secondary and Elementary) to issue necessary orders about not using mobile phones in school buses.
