Chandigarh, October 3 - Union Home and Cooperation Minister Mr. Amit Shah said that there was a perception among the people of the country that justice will not be provided for many years. Whatever FIRs will be registered in the year 2026 on the basis of these new criminal laws, it will be completely disposed of within 3 years and justice will be ensured. The laws that were there earlier were made by the British. Their aim was to maintain their rule.
The aim of making laws was not to provide welfare to the people of India. In 1947, independence was achieved from the British, but the people of the country did not get freedom from the British laws. Now, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a new era has dawned by implementing the Indian Penal Code from July 1, 2024.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated an exhibition on three new laws at the KDB Mela Ground in Kurukshetra on Friday. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini was also present on the occasion.
The guests visited the exhibition and learnt about the positive results of the new laws. On this occasion, the Union Home Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of a project worth Rs 825 crore. Apart from this, he also unveiled a book prepared by the Home Department on the new criminal laws.
He said that in these laws, the citizens of the country will get justice instead of punishment, respect for the poorest of the poor, peace and security of the body. He said that many people had a question in their minds as to what the results would be. If you see the exhibition, you will know that in 112 days, a murderer has been sentenced and sent to jail. Those criminals who could not pay the bond used to stay in jail for years. Now in the new law, if there is one-third of the sentence, the jail itself will apply for their remission.
He said that under the old laws, only 40 percent of the cases could get justice. After the implementation of the new laws, 80 percent of the cases are reaching justice. Now the police is working on collecting facts, due to which the rate of justice has already doubled. The government has brought many provisions in this, including citizen, dignity and law.
Now the police is working on collecting data instead of batons, instead of third degree, work is being done on collecting scientific facts. He said that through the laws, police, jail, judiciary, prosecution and forensics have all been connected online.
Separate laws have been made for women and children. Videography of all points has been ensured. Forensic investigation has been made clear in crimes of more than seven years. He said that terrorism, mob lynching, digital crime and determination of time limit have also been added. Now police, justice and prosecution have been brought together at one place.
The then Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah said that provision has been made for trial in absentia. Those criminals who flee the country after committing a crime, now in the new law, trial will be conducted against them even in their absence and they will be taken to punishment.
He said that now the sentences of date after date will end and justice will be assured in three years. He said that in Haryana, 71 percent charge sheet challan can be presented within 60 days. For which the time limit of 90 days was fixed. For this, training was given to the officers, employees, advocates, people of public prosecutions associated with the police, courts.
