He also stressed that planning is underway for the next Quad summit, which is expected to be held later this year or early 2026. India is to host the leaders of the US, Australia and Japan. The 2024 summit was held in Wilmington, Delaware, US.

“In terms of the meetings that are happening soon, I certainly don’t want to go ahead and announce anything for the President, but I am sure you will see the two (PM Modi and President Trump) meeting,” the official said.
“They have a very, very positive relationship,” the official said. We have a Quad summit, which we are working on planning, so at some point it will happen, if not this year, then early next year. We are working on the dates for that.” Describing the ongoing US-India contacts as “very productive”, the official said that “continued positive developments” are expected in the coming months.
