Successful Implementation of Home Voting by Postal Ballot for Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities, in UT Chandigarh

In a pioneering effort to make the democratic process more inclusive, the Election Commission of India had successfully launched Home Voting by Postal Ballot for citizens aged over 85 years and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with a minimum 40% benchmark disability.

In a pioneering effort to make the democratic process more inclusive, the Election Commission of India had successfully launched Home Voting by Postal Ballot for citizens aged over 85 years and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with a minimum 40% benchmark disability. 
This initiative ensured that these individuals can exercise their right to vote comfortably and conveniently from their homes. In UT Chandigarh, a total of 633 eligible voters in these categories had opted for Home Voting through Form 12D. The detailed report submitted by the five Assistant Returning Officers provides insights into the implementation and outcome of this initiative. Out of the total 633 Electors who opted for Home Voting, 598 Electors had cast their vote through Home Voting, 17 Electors had expired after opting for Home Voting, 16 Electors were out of City/Country or Hospitalized, while 02 Electors refused to cast their vote.
