DDF said that every year a large number of migratory birds come to Pong Dam which make their home here during the winter season. This time, during bird watching, migratory species like Eurasian Coot and Northern Shoveler were especially seen. The birds here come from the Shivalik Mountains and enrich the biodiversity here.
People of all age groups participated in this program. The oldest participant was 71 years old while the youngest bird lover was only 10 years old. This shows that love for nature and interest in birds is equally present in all generations.
During the program, forest department officials made the children aware about the importance of bird conservation, ecological balance and biodiversity. During this, the children not only identified different species of birds but also got information about their migration, lifestyle and their role in the environment.
DDF Joya Siddiqui said that this program was an inspiring experience for the local community and nature lovers, through which they understand their responsibility towards nature and express their commitment towards biodiversity.
