On this occasion, ADC (J) Mr. Rahul Chaba with the support of Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana distributed iron tablets to 104 female students whose HB is less than 10. Addressing the event, Mr. Rahul Chaba said that in order to eliminate anemia in children in the future, it is necessary to make adolescent girls anemia free from today. Only a healthy woman can give birth to a healthy child. If the mother is anemic, the child will also have less blood. He said that in Hoshiarpur district, health department and education department are working together to eradicate anemia among adolescent girls.
Preferring home-made food, he said that distance should be kept from junk food and home-made balanced food should be eaten only. He said that to create a healthy society, our goal is to give adolescent girls an anemia-free and healthy life. Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana while addressing said that a campaign has been started by the government and health department to free girls from anemia. According to this, iron tablets are given to the girls with low Hb by Hb test of adolescent girls to get rid of anemia. Senior Medical Officer Dr. Baldev Singh said that the HB test was conducted on all government middle, high and senior secondary school girls under PHC Chakowal between the ages of 10 and 19, out of which 34 female students had HB less than 8 grams and 976 female students had HB 10. Turned out to be less than grams. Iron tablets have been distributed to these female students and HB tests will be done after 3 months. On this occasion, DEO Secondary Harbhagwant Singh thanked the officials of the health department and said that this is a worthwhile initiative of the government.
