Nawanshahr - District Agriculture Production Committee meeting of district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Navjotpal Singh Randhawa. During the meeting, he appealed to the farmers not to set the stubble on fire for the maintenance of environment and human health. And told that 56 balers and 195 super seeder machines have been made available to the farmers on subsidy for the proper maintenance of straw by the agriculture department.
  Under which a subsidy of Rs.1,33,78,000/- has been transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Their proposal to provide more baler subsidy for stubble maintenance in the district will be sent to the higher authorities. He said that orchards and alternate crops should be given priority to adopt crop diversification.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Dapinder Singh said that advance arrangements have been made for seeds, fertilizers and pesticides for the 2023-24 Rabi season. He said that 80% of the fertilizers will be supplied by the government this year through cooperative societies and 20% by private sellers. They have also filled samples of biofertilizer to provide quality fertilizers to the farmers in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (R) Rajeev Verma, SDM Nawanshahr Dr. Akshita Gupta, SDM Banga Bikramjit Singh Panthe, Assistant Commissioner General Dr. Gurleen Kaur and Good Governance Fellow Sanjana Sakshaina were present in this meeting, among others. Apart from Agriculture Development Officer Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Sugar Mill Mehrdas, Assistant Deputy Director Horticulture Daljit Singh Gill, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Dairy Development Officer Ram Saran, Land Conservation Officer Pradeep Singh and non-official member Mahinder Singh from various departments. Dosanjh, Daljit Singh, Gurnam Singh, Amarjit Singh also participated.
