
Waveguard swimmers win 37 golds in Punjab School Swimming Championship
Mohali:- 26 swimmers under Waveguard Swimming Program have won 37 Gold, 26 Silver and 15 Bronze medals in the Punjab School Swimming Championship held at Mohali from November 12 to November 15. Waveguard Chief Coach Gurcharanjit Singh Dhaliwal congratulated all the swimmers and parents for supporting their children. He also thanked coaches Balbir Singh, Harmandeep Singh, Nitish Thakur and Gagan Matta who trained these swimmers.
Mohali:- 26 swimmers under Waveguard Swimming Program have won 37 Gold, 26 Silver and 15 Bronze medals in the Punjab School Swimming Championship held at Mohali from November 12 to November 15. Waveguard Swimming Club was started last August to provide advance training and techniques to the swimmers to improve their swimming standards. The club has appointed a European coach Mr. Eric Landa who is responsible for the training. There are about six coaches in different districts who coordinate with him and follow his training program.
Mr. Eric Landa is a respected coach in the world swimming family who has trained 21 Olympians so far. It is his training program that has enabled these swimmers to win medals in just one year. Mr. Eric Landa said that our focus is on winning multiple golds in the National School Games to be held next year. We will be happy if some of our swimmers qualify for the finals this year.
Secretary of Waveguard Ashok Sharma thanked Secretary Sports Punjab Government Sarvjit Singh IAS for providing boarding, accommodation and swimming pool for the training of these swimmers. He also thanked Director Punjab Sports Department Mr. Harpreet Sudan IAS and Mr. Parminder Singh Sidhu Deputy Director Sports for helping in organizing the swimming camp.
