Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that according to the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration is standing with its farmers and is continuously encouraging the farmers not to set fire to the straw by mixing it in their fields. Under this series, cooperative societies and the Department of Agriculture are sowing free wheat in the fields of small farmers with Happy Seeder and technical information is also being given to the farmers.
He said that the cooperative societies of the district have 324 happy seeders and by making good use of these machines, they can use these machines in the fields of farmers who own less than two and a half acres of land as a demonstration plot in one acre of land at their own expense without setting it on fire. Sowing of wheat is being done by mixing it in the ground with Happy Seeder. He said that today wheat has been sown through 13 demonstration plots by the cooperative societies and the agriculture department.
Sakshi Sahni said that a target has been set to sow wheat through a demonstration plot in about 252 acres of land in the district. He said that with this, 324 happy seeder machines of cooperative societies will also be used and with one machine, wheat will be sown in one acre of land as a demonstration plot.
