Hoshiarpur- NGO 'Shaan' organized AIDS awareness program in Paramedical Science Department of Rayat Bahra Management College. Organized under the guidance of Principal Dr. Harinder Singh Gill and Department Incharge Dr. Sukhmeet Bedi, the main objective of this program was to make students aware about HIV/AIDS, its infection and prevention.
The program started with the welcome speech of Department Incharge Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi, in which she appreciated the need for AIDS awareness and the efforts of NGO 'Shaan'. She said that it is the responsibility of the society to spread awareness about a serious disease like AIDS. She inspired the students to get as much information as possible on this subject and contribute to spreading awareness.
Project Manager Aarti Thakur, while giving information about the activities and objectives of the NGO, said that her organization is continuously working in the field of AIDS awareness. Advocate Manoj Nagpal, the keynote speaker of the program, gave information about legal rights, privacy, anti-discrimination laws and government policies related to HIV/AIDS. He said that society needs to be sensitive in this matter, so that the affected people can get equal opportunities in education and jobs.
He also discussed the scientific aspect of infection, preventive measures and safe health practices. Students participated enthusiastically in the awareness camp and resolved their doubts by asking their questions to the experts. At the end of the program, Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi expressed her gratitude to the NGO 'Shaan', guests, students and teachers. On this occasion, many students and teachers including Prof. Aditi, Prof. Saqib, Prof. Irshad, Prof. Akash, Prof. Masroor, Prof. Mudassar, Prof. Humaira, Tarlok Singh, Rajni, Arjun and Harjinder were present.
