Bureau of Indian Standards Chandigarh organised District Level Workshop

Hoshiarpur- Bureau of Indian Standards Chandigarh Branch Office organised District Level Workshop/Training Programme today. The programme was organised under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal at District Complex. It was attended by 50 participants including CEO Zila Parishad, SDM and heads of various district departments.

Joint Director Abhishek Kumar and Deputy Director Kushagra Jindal inaugurated the programme and briefed the participants about ‘BIS activities, Indian Standards and online services’. They encouraged the district officials to procure products as per Indian Standards and stressed the importance of quoting Indian Standards in bid documents. Kushagra Jindal briefed the participants about the required Quality Control Order.
He elaborated that under the Quality Control Order it is illegal to manufacture, import, sell or exhibit products without the licence of Bureau of Indian Standards. Abhishek Kumar briefed about the online services provided by BIS such as BIS Care App which helps consumers to check certified products and lodge complaints.
Kushagra Jindal also talked about hallmarking of gold jewellery. Apart from this, standards and guidelines related to various departments including PWD, health, agriculture and food were also discussed.
