Hoshiarpur- A 73-year-old man suffering from acute ischemic stroke got a new life after successful treatment at Max Hospital. Acute ischemic stroke is an emergency that occurs due to reduced blood flow to the brain. As a result, brain cells are damaged.
The patient was brought to Max Hospital in a critical condition. He was suffering from paralysis on the right side, affecting both the upper and lower limbs, along with difficulty in speaking. The patient was shifted to the emergency department. After a detailed evaluation, a blockage in the left cerebral artery was identified, confirming the stroke.
Senior Interventional Neuroradiologist, Max Hospital Dr. Sandeep Moudgil said, “The patient was brought in critical conditions with the main symptoms of ischemic stroke. Intravenous thrombolysis was performed to dissolve the clot. This was followed by mechanical thrombectomy using advanced neuro interventional techniques to restore blood flow to the affected areas of the brain.
The patient improved significantly. His mobility and speech were restored. After treatment, the patient was discharged in a stable condition. Dr. Moudgil said that timely treatment is crucial in stroke management.
