SAS Nagar, November 05, 2023: Legal Services Day is being celebrated on 09.11.2024 by District Legal Services Authority, Sehabzada Ajit Singh Nagar in compliance with the instructions issued by Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar.
 Ms. Surabhi Parashar, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, while giving information, informed that on the basis of Legal Services Day, from 04 November to 09 November, students in various universities, law colleges and schools in the district were informed about the Legal Services Authorities Act, Legal Services Week is being celebrated to give information about 1987. He said that on November 9, 1995, the 'Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987' was implemented by India, since then Legal Services Day has been celebrated continuously in various states of India. The establishment of National Legal Services Day serves to create awareness about the availability of free legal aid to all citizens.
 He also said that members of scheduled castes or tribes, women, children, mentally ill, unemployed, industrial workers, persons in custody, deportees and prisoners in jails and every person whose annual income is less than three lakh rupees. is less, entitled to free legal aid. Free legal aid includes free services of lawyers in courts, free legal consultation, court fees, summons fees and expenses incurred on witnesses etc. are paid by the District Legal Services Authority.
