PGIMER Chandigarh has reached a remarkable milestone in healthcare by successfully performing three cervical spine disc replacements in just one week. These groundbreaking surgeries were led by Dr. Vishal Kumar, Additional Professor of Orthopedics, providing significant relief to patients suffering from Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy.
Among the patients treated were a 57-year-old woman and two men, aged 49 and 54. They presented with severe symptoms, including difficulty walking, reduced hand grip, and neck pain radiating to their arms. Following the procedures, all three patients reported substantial pain relief and are currently on the road to recovery.
The innovative surgeries, which aim to restore normal function and flexibility to the spine, were made possible through government healthcare initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat.
