During the festive season, the central government has given gifts to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The central government has increased the subsidy on gas cylinders available under the Ujwala Yojana from Rs 200 to Rs 300, that is, now the beneficiaries of this scheme will get a cylinder cheaper by Rs 100. Union Minister Anurag Thakur gave this good news while informing about the Cabinet decisions.
After receiving a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder from the central government, the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana in Delhi will get a 14.2 kg domestic cooking gas cylinder for Rs 603. The beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana will get a domestic LPG cylinder for Rs 602.50 in Mumbai, Rs 629 in Kolkata and Rs 618.50 in Chennai.
In September, the central government had sanctioned Rs 1,650 crore to provide 75 lakh LPG connections to oil marketing companies under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This money will be used to provide new connections under the Ujjwala scheme. After providing 75 lakh new connections, the number of beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana will reach 10.35 crore across the country.
9.6 crore people will benefit
Currently, the number of beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana across the country is 9.6 crore. Due to this, 9.6 crore people of the country will directly benefit from the increase in subsidy. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government provides LPG cylinders at subsidized rates to poor people.
