
Krishi Vigyan Kendra launched a sapling campaign in three villages
Patiala, August 3 - Krishi Vigyan Kendra Patiala conducted a sapling campaign at villages Kheri Maniyan, Mund Khera and Bakshiwala. More than 40 farmers enthusiastically participated in this campaign. On this occasion, Professor-cum-in-charge KVK Patiala Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur shared information about the benefits of planting trees such as environmental protection. He encouraged to grow quality and healthy fruits in the home garden. He discussed various activities and training programs conducted by KVK Patiala for the benefit of farmers.

Dr Rajni Goyal, Professor (FST) spoke about the nutritional value of fruits and processing of jaman, bel, karonda etc. Dr Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) followed the selection of fruit plants, digging pits, spacing of plants and plant care to ensure that the farmers would manage their new plantations efficiently. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Assistant Professor (Plant Prot) provided guidance on integrated disease management of fruit plants during rainy season.
He discussed the management of other paddy diseases. 150 saplings including mango, neem, zaman, bell, karunda and moringa plants were distributed to the farmers to plant around their tubewells, schools and common lands.
