Patiala, May 28 – Returning Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Patiala Shaukat Ahmed Pare has canceled the vehicle permits of candidates who did not appear during the second scrutiny of election expenses. 
Giving information in this regard, Shaukat Ahmed Pare said that under Section 77 of the Public Representation Act 1951, independent candidate Paramjit Singh son of Tarlochan Singh, independent candidate Dimple and independent candidate Makhan Singh were registered with the shadow observation register of the expenditure observer. It was supposed to submit its records by May 20, 2024, to match the election expenditure register, which was not submitted.
He said that the said candidates were again written to submit their records on May 25, 2024 and were instructed that in case of not submitting the records on the stipulated date, the vehicle permit issued to them will be cancelled. However, independent candidate Tarlochan Singh's son Paramjeet Singh, independent candidate Dimple and independent candidate Makhan Singh did not present any representative. Therefore, the vehicle approvals issued to the said candidates have been cancelled.
