Hoshiarpur- In view of the problem of waterlogging and broken roads during the rains in Dana Mandi Hoshiarpur, now large-scale development works are being started at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore to strengthen the infrastructure of the mandi. Today, Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa inaugurated these works in the presence of Market Committee Chairman Jaspal Singh Chechi. These include CC flooring work on the internal roads of the market and upgrading of the old water supply and sewage system.
Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that development works are going on rapidly in Punjab under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said that since the level of the market is lower than the main road, water accumulates during rains, which damages the roads and causes a lot of trouble to the farmers and arhtiyas. To solve this problem, the work of laying cement concrete flooring on the internal roads of the mandi at a cost of Rs 249.94 lakh has been approved, which will start soon and be completed within 9 months. Apart from this, new pipes will be laid in place of 65-70 year old water supply pipes. The water supply and sewage system will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 102.54 lakh, which will solve the long-standing problems of waterlogging and leakage.
MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa said that under this project, the park in the residential area adjacent to the market will also be beautified. Apart from this, on the demand of the arhtiyas, officials from Chandigarh have also visited for the expansion of the shed, which will be constructed soon.
He also said that till now there was a police post in this area, which was insufficient considering the increasing population. Now an industrial police station will be established here, which will strengthen the security and law and order of the area.
