S.A.S.Nagar- General Category Welfare Mahasangh Punjab (Registered) state leaders Sukhbir Singh, Jarnail Singh Brar, Jasvir Singh Garang, Ranjit Singh Sidhu, Dilbag Singh, Kapil Dev Parashar and Sudesh Kamal Sharma have termed the non-appointment of the chairman of the General Category Commission by the Punjab government as extremely unfortunate.
The Mahasangh has said that despite repeated requests, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab is not appointing the chairman of the General Category Commission. Whereas the chairmen of the commissions of other categories have been appointed. This clearly shows that this government does not want to give justice to the general category. This government has not yet provided building and staff to the commission.
They have asked the government why the platform created to solve the problems of the general category is not being provided facilities? Do the problems of the general category not exist or does the government not want to let these problems be solved? The Mahasangh said that the Punjab Assembly is currently in session. But the MLAs who won the elections from the general category constituencies of all the political parties are also silent on this issue.
They never demanded the immediate implementation of this commission. For which the Mahasangh strongly condemns these general category MLAs. He said that in the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, the MLAs who won the elections from 117 assembly constituencies will have to answer what efforts they made to implement this commission. The Mahasangh will soon prepare a strategy in this regard.
The MLAs who won from the general category should understand that this power will not always remain with them, so they should not lose the opportunity to work for the people of their class. The MLAs and ministers of the reserved category keep working for their class even by going beyond their limits.
The leaders of the Mahasangh appealed to the ministers and MLAs of the general category to put pressure on the Punjab government and make special efforts to appoint the chairman of the commission for the general category so that the poor people of the general category can also get the benefit of welfare schemes. The reserved category ministers who become an obstacle will be strongly opposed in the 2027 elections.
