Karnal, May 23: The team from the District Cyber ??Crime Police Station, Karnal, has successfully arrested two accused individuals involved in defrauding a victim of ?15 lakh under the pretext of a "digital arrest."
This operation was conducted under the leadership of Assistant Sub-Inspector Devender Singh Mann.
The arrested accused have been identified as Arif, son of Nafees, and Asif Ali, son of Ali Hasan—both residents of Chaprauli, District Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh).
Two mobile phones have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The accused had coerced the complainant into transferring ?15 lakh from his wife's bank account by threatening to implicate him in a money laundering case and a fabricated FIR. In this regard, Case No. 172, dated 01/11/2025, was registered at the Cyber ??Crime Police Station, Karnal, under Section 318(4) and Section 61 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).
The police arrested both accused and produced them before the court; subsequently, accused Arif was sent to judicial custody, while a three-day police remand was secured for accused Asif Ali. Investigations regarding the involvement of other accused individuals in this case are currently underway.
