Putin Mocks G7 from BRICS Platform

New Delhi, September 12:- Russian President Vladimir Putin took a jibe at the G7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States) during the Leaders’ Session of the BRICS Business Forum, saying that the BRICS countries account for 40 per cent of trade, while the G7 countries account for less than that. Putin said new engines of growth are emerging in the world and that the reality of the past five years is that the world is continuously changing. According to him, these changes are extremely important for both humanity and the global economy.
President Putin said that BRICS countries represent half of the world’s population and that most of the growth has come from BRICS countries. He said that 40 per cent of trade is taking place among BRICS countries and that their markets are very large. In addition, he said that a Russian company in the nuclear energy sector is the largest company in the world and that Russia is facing competition on a large scale.
Targeting the United States over the issue of Iran, Putin said that pipelines and ships are attacked and secondary sanctions are imposed to protect one’s interests. He claimed that the countries that imposed sanctions are themselves facing industrial problems and, according to their own figures, the economies of some countries have declined by as much as 8 per cent.
The Russian President made it clear that BRICS is not against anyone, but works for its own interests and provides a better platform for expanding trade. On the same platform, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also showcased India’s strength, saying that the world is facing trade barriers, while India is building economic bridges.
