PM Modis strong message at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for an end to the entire terror infrastructure with zero tolerance towards double standards and said the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) should send a clear message against state-sponsored terrorism and ensure that terrorism is never used as a strategic asset.
Addressing the SCO summit in Bishkek, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a 10-point action plan for the grouping.
Urging members to strengthen the three pillars of SCO cooperation—security, connectivity and opportunities—the Prime Minister said the organisation should move beyond vision and move towards measurable results.
The call to eliminate terrorism dominated Modi’s agenda as he asked members to destroy the entire terrorist ecosystem by targeting terrorist funding, recruitment, radicalization and safe havens, with no room for double standards.
He called on members to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, rather than escalating regional conflicts and disrupting global energy security, maritime trade and supply chains.
Stressing on regional sovereignty, he said, “Build trusting and inclusive engagement while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in accordance with the SCO Charter.”
The Prime Minister made these remarks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek in the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and leaders of other member states including China, Russia, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The SCO The SCO currently has 10 member countries, including China, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.
