National Lok Adalat settles 6194 cases through mutual settlement

Una, September 12:- A National Lok Adalat was organised today (Saturday) at the District and Sessions Court, Una, and the court complex at Sub-Division Amb under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Naresh Kumar. Various types of cases were settled through mutual agreement and amicable resolution during the National Lok Adalat.
Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Shikha Lakhanpal, said that a total of 6,194 cases were successfully disposed of during the National Lok Adalat. A settlement amount of Rs. 5,52,39,009 was reached during the disposal of these cases. She said that hearings were conducted to settle cases belonging to various categories on the basis of mutual agreement. These included compoundable cases related to various offences, civil disputes, cheque bounce cases, cases related to the Negotiable Instruments Act under Section 138, consumer complaints and cases related to motor vehicle challans.
She said that the objective of the National Lok Adalat is to provide accessible, speedy and inexpensive justice to the general public. Through the Lok Adalat, parties can resolve their disputes on the basis of mutual consent and settlement, which not only saves time and money but also helps reduce the burden of pending cases in courts.
