Khedan Watan Punjab Dian2026 Gets a Grand Start in the District
Kharar/Majri (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), 12 September:- The block-level sports competitions in Kharar and Majri blocks of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district commenced today with great enthusiasm under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian-2026 Season 4’, being organised by the Sports Department of the Punjab Government. On the occasion, Chairman of the Punjab Youth Development Board S. Parminder Singh Goldy visited Block Majri and Kharar and encouraged the participating players. He said that ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ is a commendable initiative of the Punjab Government, through which, besides connecting the youth with sports, emerging sporting talents are being provided a platform to showcase their abilities and move forward.
During the block-level competitions, events in various sports, including kabaddi, volleyball, football, kho-kho, athletics and cricket (tennis ball), were organised, in which a large number of players participated enthusiastically.
In the under-14 volleyball category, the Kharali team of Block Majri secured first place, the Khizarabad team secured second place and the Ratwara team secured third place. Similarly, in the under-14 boys’ competitions, the team from village Ratwara secured first place, the team from village Mullanpur Garibdas secured second place and the team from village Madhusangtian secured third place.
Chairman Parminder Singh Goldy stated that the teams winning at the block level will participate in the district-level competitions in the next stage. The teams winning at the district level will get an opportunity to participate in the state-level competitions. The winning teams/players at the state level will be provided prize money by the government. A prize of Rs 10,000 will be given to the first-place winner, Rs 7,000 to the second-place winner and Rs 5,000 to the third-place winner.
District Sports Officer Smt. Umeshvari Sharma visited various blocks and reviewed the ongoing sports competitions.
She said that such sports competitions play an important role in promoting sportsmanship, discipline and a healthy lifestyle among the youth, and the district administration and Sports Department are ensuring the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of these competitions.
