Heroin worth Rs 84 crore seized in Amritsar consignment delivered via drone
Chandigarh/Amritsar/Deepak Mehra:- In a major success in the drive to make Punjab safe launched as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Border Range, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered around 12,050 kg heroin near Daleke village, Lopoke, Amritsar. This information was given by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here today.
The DGP said that during regular patrolling of identified sensitive places, information was received about the presence of a drone in the fields near Daleke village. He said that acting immediately on this information, joint ANTF teams under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh conducted a systematic search of the suspicious place. He further said that during this search, a consignment of heroin was recovered from the fields near Daleke village.
The total weight of the drugs recovered including packaging material was found to be 12.050 kg. Sharing further details, SP ANTF Gurpreet Singh said that preliminary investigation is underway to ascertain the links of this case based on technical evidence and human intelligence. He informed that the suspects who were likely to receive this consignment have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
In this regard, FIR No. 322 dated 22/12/2025 under Sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF.
