Free Gatka Training Camp Organized at Gurdwara Gumatsar Sahib
Ratia, July 6:- The closing ceremony of the free Gatka training camp, organized by the Shaheed Akali Baba Phoola Singh Gatka Academy from June 1 to July 5 at Gurdwara Gumatsar Sahib, was held on Sunday. A large number of children participated in the month-long camp, where they were trained in the traditional martial art of Gatka by coaches Jashndeep Singh, Sagar Singh, and Kamaljit Singh Mann.
The closing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khokhar (Member of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee), Jathedar Kaka Singh Ladhuwas, Jathedar Gurmel Singh Sahinal, Jathedar Gamdoor Singh, Manager Rajinder Singh, and social worker Happy Singh Sethi. On this occasion, children who completed the training were encouraged with certificates, medals, and awards by the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Study Circle.
Addressing the gathering, Happy Singh Sethi shared details of the camp’s activities with the Sangat (congregation) and stated that such training camps are an important medium to connect children with their culture, traditions, and discipline. He called for continuing such service-oriented initiatives in the future as well.
Jathedar Kaka Singh Ladhuwas and Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khokhar, members of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, praised the efforts of the Gatka Academy and stated that connecting children with the glorious heritage of Gatka is the need of the hour. They assured full cooperation for the organization of such camps in the future.
Jathedar Gamdoor Singh, the chief sewadar of Gurdwara Gumatsar Sahib, also lauded the efforts of the academy’s coaches, saying that connecting the new generation with Gatka is an inspiring work for society. He encouraged everyone to organize more such training camps in the future.
During the ceremony, children were awarded certificates and medals, while the Gatka coaches were honored with Siropas (robes of honor) and mementos. On behalf of the Gurdwara Sahib, all the distinguished guests present at the program were also honored with Siropas.
Jagpal Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Joban Singh, Samarjeet Singh, Navdeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, and a large number of the Sangat and parents were present on this occasion.
