Jalandhar:- Recently, a heartfelt farewell party was organized by the staff of Akashvani Jalandhar for Pax Coordination Officer Sohan Kumar on his retirement after 32 years of distinguished service. Joining Akashvani Jalandhar in April 1994 as a Transmission Executive, he served in various capacities, including as a Program Officer. He also rendered vital services as a Hindi Officer for 2 years and held the additional charge of DDO for 6 years. He was an active member of the Women’s Safety Cell as well as the 'Special Inquiry Committee'.
 Recognized for his efficiency and dedication, he served as a member of the 'Community Radio Inspection' team along with Akashvani Head DDG (Eng.) Mr. Ranjeet Meena. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Meena remarked, "I have worked with Sohan Kumar for two years, and the professional conduct I have seen in him is rare to find in others." Akashvani Program Head ADP Paramjit Singh noted that Sohan Kumar never gave any employee a reason for complaint, possessing a unique talent for solving issues with humility.
Sohan Kumar also served for two years at Akashvani Bhaderwah (Jammu) during his tenure. Additionally, he had the opportunity to represent the organization along with his colleague, Pax Navdeep Singh, at the International Radio Festival in Iran.
The farewell party was attended by Sohan Kumar’s wife, Monika Mehta (who is a Radio Jockey herself), their two sons, his uncle, and other family members. In his farewell speech, Sohan Kumar expressed that Akashvani had given him more love and respect than he could have imagined, and he remained deeply grateful to all his colleagues.
The staff of Akashvani, including singer-musician Mannu Seen, Rajni Chadha, Paramjit Sona, Kanwarjaspal Singh, and Sukhdeep Singh, captivated the audience with songs and ghazals. Akashvani colleagues Rajesh Bali, Pratishtha Jain, Gurnam Singh, Prabhjot Kaur, Sukhdeep, Gurvinder Sandhu, Amandeep Joshi, Satish Sharma, and Anil Soni presented a 'memento' on behalf of the staff. Special guests, including his batchmates and friends Karanveer, Baljit Sharma, Prof. Gurdev Singh Dev, Parvesh Kumar, Rajkumar Tuli, Gurvinder Garry, and Dharampal, were also present. The ceremony was conducted by Birender Singh. Following the cake-cutting and tea, Sohan Kumar was given a joyous send-off as he departed with his family.
