Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sound inaugurates the renovated AngloSikh War Museum at Ferozeshah

Ferozepur, September 14: Punjab's Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Labour, Hospitality, Rural Development & Panchayats, and Power, Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Sound, inaugurated the renovated Anglo-Sikh War Museum at Ferozeshah. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that the historic land of Ferozeshah bears witness to the unparalleled bravery, valor, and sacrifice of the Sikh army. This museum is dedicated to the memory of the warriors who fought in the Anglo-Sikh Wars of 1845-46 and 1848-49. Ferozepur Rural MLA Mr. Rajnish Dahiya, Ferozepur Urban MLA S. Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Guru Har Sahai MLA S. Fauja Singh Sarari, and Aam Aadmi Party District President Harjinder Ghanga were also specially present on this occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated that the Punjab Government has renovated this museum at a cost of approximately ?10 crore, nearly 50 years after its initial establishment. He remarked that the government's objective is not merely to preserve historical heritage but also to convey this magnificent history to the younger generation and to tourists from within the country and abroad using modern methods. He noted that while visitors previously learned about history through artifacts and paintings, the new presentation offers an immersive, living historical journey alongside visual displays. It incorporates a blend of art, lighting, sound, and digital technology.
The Cabinet Minister explained that the museum's three floors have been designed to offer a continuous historical journey. The 'Rise' section depicts the Sikh Empire, the era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji, and the rise of the British East India Company. The ‘Conflict’ section presents a detailed account of the Anglo-Sikh Wars, while the ‘Legacy’ section depicts the events following these wars and their enduring historical significance. 
He explained that the shifting political landscape of that era is illustrated on the ground floor through multi-dimensional historical maps and projections. Additionally, a special presentation of the Lahore Darbar acquaints visitors with the historical atmosphere of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s reign. 
Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated that the battles of Mudki, Ferozeshah, Sabraon, and Chillianwala are depicted through murals, animated maps, and audio-visual presentations. This enables visitors not only to understand the sequence of events of these wars but also to intimately experience the bravery, courage, and sacrifice of the Sikh soldiers. He stated that four historical paintings by the renowned artist Kirpal Singh constitute a valuable artistic heritage of this museum. In the new presentation, these paintings have been preserved and integrated with the historical narrative. Furthermore, historical references such as the works of Shah Mohammad and Cunningham's *History of the Sikhs* have been incorporated into the museum's presentation.
He mentioned that historical information has been made more engaging, accessible, and impactful through the use of touch panels, information kiosks, digital displays, and audio-visual content. He added that this museum would prove highly beneficial for students, history researchers, the youth, and tourists. Extending a special invitation to the youth and Gen-Z to visit this museum, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated that history is not merely something to be read in books; it is equally important to visit the historic site itself to learn about—and draw inspiration from—the bravery, sacrifices, and legacy of one's ancestors.
He remarked that today marks not just the inauguration of a renovated museum, but the breathing of new life into a half-century-old memorial, thereby building a strong bridge between history and the new generation. He added that the Punjab Government is making continuous efforts to preserve the state's rich historical and cultural heritage and to pass it on to future generations. On this occasion, Ferozepur Rural MLA Mr. Rajnish Kumar Dahiya thanked Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sound for inaugurating the renovated Anglo-Sikh War Museum at Ferozeshah. He expressed hope that, following its renovation, the museum would become a major attraction for history enthusiasts, students, researchers, and tourists, playing a pivotal role in further highlighting the historical heritage of the Ferozepur district.
Also present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, Director of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SDM Ferozepur Abhishek Sharma, Bhupinder Singh Channa, Sukhdeep Singh Ugoke, Beant Singh, Robi Sandhu, Sarpanch Mandeep Singh Piareana, Sarpanch Amandeep, Sarpanch Gurjant Singh, and Sarpanch Rajinder, along with other dignitaries.
