8th Public Health Policy and Management Programme successfully concludes

Chandigarh, 14 September:- The 8th Public Health Policy and Management (PHPM) programme conducted under the Government of India's Ministry of External Affairs prestigious Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme at PGIMER Chandigarh has concluded successfully. 45 senior health sector experts from 25 countries participated in this one-week international capacity building programme.
Chief guest of valedictory ceremony Chandigarh Tourism Secretary Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah said that Chandigarh presents a glimpse of modern, progressive and welcoming India. He said that this programme has proved important for India's soft diplomacy apart from being an academic and professional platform. Through this, mutual understanding, goodwill and institutional relations between different countries have been strengthened.
Delegates obtained information about India's health system and ways of implementing policies in practice. They showed special interest in PGIMER's Green Hospital initiative, Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO), Tele-Evidence and Telemedicine initiatives. During the programme, information was also shared about National Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat, National Organ Transplant Programme and initiatives related to digital health and sustainability. Tours of ICCC and Open Hand Monument were also organised for delegates.
Dr. Sonu Goel said that in last 10 years this programme has become a globally recognised leadership and management training model. With spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', this programme is moving beyond education to promote long-term partnerships, mutual trust and international cooperation. He said that so far more than 1,850 public health experts from 97 countries have been trained.
In the end, certificates were distributed to all participants on successful completion of training.
