Apply for the highest civilian award by July 31 2026
Chandigarh, May 23:- The Haryana government has invited nominations for the prestigious Padma Awards including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards, which are among the highest civilian honours, will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2027.
A government spokesperson said that the recommendations for these Padma Awards can be sent to political [email protected] or [email protected] by June 10, 2026. Only nominations sent through the online portal https://awards.gov.in will be accepted by the Central Government. Online nominations/recommendations for these awards have started from March 15, 2026 and the last date for nomination is July 31, 2026.
He said that the Padma Awards, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are considered the highest civilian awards of the country. These awards, which were started in the year 1954, are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. The aim of these awards is to honour "special work". These awards are given for extraordinary and distinguished achievements or services in various fields like art, literature and education, sports, medical, social work, science and engineering, public works, civil services, trade and industry. These awards are open to all persons without any discrimination on the basis of caste, profession, position or gender.
The spokesperson said that all nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards will be accepted only through online medium through the National Awards Portal https://awards.gov.in. The nominations or recommendations must clearly state all the required details in the prescribed format available on this portal, giving a full account of the special and extraordinary achievements or services of the person in his/her field. All the steps related to the online recommendation process are available on the portal. A copy of the Act and Rules related to these awards is also available on the website https://padmaawards.gov.in.
He informed that except for doctors and scientists, government employees and employees working in public sector undertakings are not eligible for Padma awards.
