Hoshiarpur: Under the able leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann and Higher Education & Languages ??Minister Shri Harjot Singh Bains, and following the directives of Shri Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director of the Department of Languages, Punjab, the department organizes annual district and state-level children's literature quiz competitions. The objective of these competitions is to foster a spirit of healthy competition among students. Competitions for the year 2026 are now being organized. The themes for these quizzes will cover Punjabi literature, religion, language, culture, history, and geography.
Dr. Jaswant Rai, Research Officer at the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, stated that the competitions will be conducted in three categories: the first (Category 'A') for students in classes 6 to 8, the second (Category 'B') for classes 9 to 12, and the third (Category 'C') for undergraduate students. Written verification of the participating student's class and date of birth by the head of the institution is mandatory. A maximum of two students per institution may be sent for each category. Students securing the first position in each category at the district level will proceed to participate in the state-level competition.
Winners at the district level will receive prizes in the form of cash or a departmental book set: ?1,000 for the first position, ?750 for the second, and ?500 for the third. Dr. Jaswant Rai further emphasized the need to ensure the participation of students from all schools and colleges (government, private, and aided) across the Hoshiarpur district. In this regard, schools and colleges must ensure that the applications of their participating students are submitted in hard copy to the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur (Room Nos. 307-308, 3rd Floor, District Administrative Complex, Hoshiarpur) or sent via email to [email protected] by July 20, 2026.
