to control the miscreants. Tear gas shells were fired. An attempt was made to disperse the people by firing. Seven people were 

injured. The Banke district administration, adjacent to Bahraich, has issued an indefinite curfew in Nepalganj.
The atmosphere in Nepalgunj has been tense for the last two days. A person made comments against Islam on internet media. The 

people of the Muslim community who were angry with this had carried out the incident of arson while protesting in Nepalganj 

two days ago. Angry with this, thousands of people from the Hindu community were taking out a peace procession under the 

leadership of the Omkar family on Tuesday.
It is being told that the procession was moving from BP Chowk to Tribhuvan Chowk. Stones were pelted on the procession 

leaving the mosque on the way. This led to violence. Incidents of vandalism and arson also took place along with the 

demonstration. Meanwhile, petrol bombs were also thrown. The police fired tear gas shells to control the mischievous elements. 

Shots were fired to disperse the crowd.
All schools, colleges and shops in Nepalganj have been closed after the incident. People are being appealed to maintain harmony. 

Banke Chief District Magistrate Vipin Acharya has ordered an indefinite curfew. Bahraich Superintendent of Police Prashant 

Verma said that we are monitoring the situation.
