Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar June 28, 2025: Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS Senior Superintendent of Police District SAS Nagar During the campaign against the bad elements by District Mohali Police, Shri Saurav Jindal PPS Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Shri Talwinder Singh PPS Superintendent of Police (Operation), Shri Jatinder Singh Chauhan PPS Sub-Superintendent of Police (Investigation) District SAS Nagar, Inspector Harminder Singh Incharge CIA The staff team has successfully busted a 06-member gang that used to cheat passersby and car drivers on the main roads and airport road in Mohali district at night and extort money from them by robbing, snatching and blackmailing them. The gang has arrested 04 accused and 01 accused and recovered 04 expensive mobile phones and a press report microphone phone stolen from them.
On 22-06-2025, the police party of the CIA staff was present near the Indian Oil Petrol Pump on Aerocity Road. Staff ASI Karanvir Singh received a tip-off that Deepak Kumar son of Pawan Kumar, resident of village Dhandardu, district Panchkula, Haryana, Harjinder Singh alias Ladi son of Avtar Singh, resident of village Chhat, Urbanpreet Singh alias Pinki, resident of Swastik Vihar, Zirakpur and Sandeep Kaur alias Mahi, daughter of Nek Singh, resident of Machiya Wali Basti, Jira, district Ferozepur, along with their other associates, have formed a gang, which they use to lure passers-by, car drivers and truck drivers into their trap at night on the main roads and airport road in district Mohali, and extort money from them by robbing, snatching and blackmailing them. This group, having organized themselves, first asks the accused Sandeep Kaur alias Mahi to stop the passers-by and truck drivers going on the roads and trap them in their trap, when she traps Sandeep Kaur in her trap and sits in the truck, then takes those truck drivers and passers-by to an uninhabited place. Where she calls her accomplices and together with her accomplices, they blackmail them and rob/steal goods/cash, mobile phones etc. Against whom cases of the same nature have been registered earlier. On the basis of which a case No. 78 dated 22-06-2025 under Sections 318(2), 308(2), 304(2), 3(5) BNS Police Station IT City was registered against the accused. The accused were arrested from different places by raids on 22-06-2025 itself.

Method of the incident: -
Interrogation of the accused revealed that the accused Sandeep Kaur, who used to share her live location with her accomplices on Airport Road, Zirakpur-Banur Road, Zirakpur-Panchkula Road and other main roads at night, used to stand alone and on the pretext of asking directions from the passers-by and taking a lift, she would sit in their cars, trucks and on the pretext of going ahead and using the pretext of trapping them in her trap and stopping the vehicle. In the meantime, the rest of her gang members would reach there and start making videos of the passers-by and blackmail them, looting all their money, mobile phones etc. The accused used to blackmail them and threaten them that if they filed a police complaint or raised a fuss, they would make their video public on social media. Accused Urbanpreet Singh and accused Harjinder Singh alias Ladi used to call themselves press reporters while committing the incident. The accused have admitted to committing more than 20 incidents of snatching, robbery and blackmailing in the area of Police Station IT City and Police Station Zirakpur.

Interrogation Accused:-
1. Accused Deepak Kumar son of Pawan Kumar resident of village Dhandardu, Police Station Chandi Mandir, Panchkula, Haryana, who is about 29 years old, who is a twelve-class pass and is unmarried. (The accused was arrested near Hotel G Plaza Zirakpur) A case of extortion has been registered against the accused at Police Station Zirakpur earlier. Apart from this, there are about 15 cases registered against the accused under different sections in the state of Haryana.
2. Harjinder Singh alias Ladi son of Avtar Singh resident of village Chhat Police Station Zirakpur, District SAS Nagar, who is about 29 years old, who is a 08-class pass and is married. (The accused was arrested from his house) There are 07 cases registered against the accused in the police stations Banur, MDC Panchkula, City Ambala, City Ropar, Sadar Rajpura and Zirakpur for Arms Act, Murder, Fight and Extortion.
3. Accused Irbanpreet Singh alias Pinky son of Mehar Singh resident of House No. 739 Swastik Vihar, Zirakpur, aged 34 years, who has studied B.A. and is unmarried. (The accused was arrested from his house) There are 04 cases registered against the accused in the police stations City Rajpura, Zirakpur, Derabassi and Sohana for robbery/theft and Arms Act.
4. Accused Sandeep Kaur alias Mahi daughter of Nek Singh resident of Machiya Wali Basti Jira, Police Station City Jira, District Ferozepur, aged about 35 years, who is illiterate and married. (Accused was arrested near Hotel G Plaza Zirakpur) Earlier, 02 cases of robbery and extortion have been registered against the accused in Police Station Zirakpur.
5. Accused Upendra Panwar alias Lucky Chaudhary son of Mainpal Singh resident of village Nainkheri, police station Rampur Maniharan, district Saharanpur, UP, currently resident of house no. 595, village Birgarh, police station Chandi Mandir, district Panchkula, Haryana, aged about 36 years, has studied BSE and is married. (The accused was arrested on 28-06-2025 from his house in village Nainkheri, UP) Earlier, 02 cases of Arms Act and gambling have been registered against the accused in police station Panchkula and police station Zirakpur.
6. Sunny Kumar Sachdeva son of Surinder Sachdeva resident of Panchpir Nagar Abohar, district Fazilka. (Arrest pending)
02 accused are under police remand. 02 accused and 01 accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
