Wheat arrival in the state's mandis has picked up pace – Harchand Singh Burst

Mohali, April 15, 2025– Punjab Mandi Board Chairman S. Harchand Singh Burst reviewed the wheat procurement operations going on in the state's mandis during the Rabi season 2025-26 and instructed the officials that farmers, laborers, and arhtiyas should not face any problem in the mandis. He said that Wheat procurement during the Rabi season 2025-26 has started from April 1. The arrival of wheat in the mandis was initially low and now the arrival has started increasing rapidly. So far, 2.39 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis.

and instructed the officials that farmers, laborers, and arhtiyas should not face any problem in the mandis. He said that Wheat procurement during the Rabi season 2025-26 has started from April 1. The arrival of wheat in the mandis was initially low and
now the arrival has started increasing rapidly. So far, 2.39 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis.
S. Burst said that the Punjab government led by the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, will not allow farmers to face any kind of problem in the mandis. He said that complete arrangements have been made so that farmers do not have to face any kind of problem in the mandis. Adequate arrangements have been made for cleanliness, drinking water, bathrooms, shade, seating in the mandis. In order to run the procurement arrangements in the mandis smoothly, the procurement arrangements are being checked by assigning duties to the officers of the Mandi Board and the problems are being resolved immediately.
He said that a total of 1865 fixed mandis have been declared by the Punjab Mandi Board for the procurement of wheat. In which 152 main yards, 285 sub-yards and 1428 procurement centers come. Along with this, 520 temporary mandis have been declared keeping in mind the arrival of the crop during the season. The Chairman said that till now 2.39 lakh metric tons of wheat have arrived in the mandis and 1.62 lakh metric tons of wheat have been procured, out of which 1.27 lakh metric tons have been procured at the government level. 0.32 lakh metric tons of wheat have been lifted from the mandis. He said that yesterday 1.47 lakh metric tons of wheat arrived in the mandis and 0.94 lakh metric tons of wheat have been procured.
