
ADGP reviewed the campaign against drugs.
Nawanshahr- Dr. Mehtab Singh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, while giving information to the press, said that under the "War against Drugs" launched by the Punjab Government to eliminate drug abuse, the Director General of Police, Punjab has assigned the responsibility of supervising District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to Additional Director General of Police, Traffic Punjab AS Rai IPS.

Under whose supervision, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police is taking strict action against those involved in the drug trade to eliminate drug abuse. He further informed that the Punjab Government has launched the "War against Drugs" mission from 01.03.2025 to eliminate drug abuse. Under this campaign, strict action is being taken by District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police to eliminate drug abuse under the supervision of ADGP Traffic Punjab AS Rai.
The District Police is checking suspicious persons by conducting blockades and patrolling daily in the drug-affected villages/mohallas and other various places of the district. The District Police has conducted case operations on various dates to eradicate drug abuse in various drug-affected villages/towns, under which special cordoning and blockade of these villages/mohallas were done and special search was conducted of suspicious persons and persons involved in drug trafficking.
The District Police has launched a special campaign under "War Against Drugs" to curb the drug trade. Taking strict action against the persons involved in the drug trade, 101 cases have been registered and 116 drug traffickers have been arrested since 01.03.2025.
People have been made aware about the ill effects of drugs by organizing various seminars/public meetings in the district. Such strict action against drug traffickers by the District Police will continue in future as well. He further informed that Shri A.S. Rai, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Traffic, Punjab has given instructions to further intensify the "War Against Drugs", take strict action against drug traffickers.
He has also directed that the supply chain of drugs in the district should be broken and drug addicts should be treated and rehabilitated.
