Hoshiarpur became the country's 'Best Green District' under the Green School Program

Hoshiarpur- Hoshiarpur has achieved the distinction of being the leading district in the country in the Green School Program Audit initiative being run across the country under the Environmental Education Program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Under this program, District Hoshiarpur has been selected for the 'Best Green District' award and the District Education Officer will receive this award on February 4 in New Delhi.

Hoshiarpur- Hoshiarpur has achieved the distinction of being the leading district in the country in the Green School Program Audit initiative being run across the country under the Environmental Education Program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Under this program, District Hoshiarpur has been selected for the 'Best Green District' award and the District Education Officer will receive this award on February 4 in New Delhi.
Under the Environmental Education Program of the Central Ministry, the Punjab State Council of Science and Technology established eco clubs in 8 thousand schools and colleges of the state, where air, energy, food, soil, water and waste management were audited under the Green School Program. The Council started the Green School Program in partnership with the Punjab School Education Department and the Center for Science and Environment, under which 11917 schools were registered in Punjab and green audit was successfully completed in 7406 of these schools.
These successful schools include 1945 schools of Hoshiarpur district. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal congratulated Hoshiarpur for getting the leading position in the Green Audit Program among schools across the country due to the hard work of the education department and administrative officers/employees and said that 345 schools were selected from across the country under the Green School Program, out of which 196 schools are from Punjab and 12 of these schools are from Hoshiarpur district. She said that the district administration and the staff of the education department are fully committed to establish environmental friendly system in as many schools of Hoshiarpur as possible and in the coming time, a completely healthy environment will be ensured in other schools as well.
District Education Officer Lalita Arora credited the efficient leadership of the officers of the district administration and the employees of the education department for this achievement and said that due to their dedication, Hoshiarpur has earned a name across the country in the Green School Program Audit. He said that the 12 schools selected under the Green School Program include Government Senior Secondary School Chohal, Government Senior Secondary School Jallowal Khanur, Government High School Gobindpur Khun-Khun, Government Girls High School Sus Pajoditta, Government High School Bassi Ghulam Hussain, Government Elementary School Jamsher Chathiyal, Government Elementary School Mohri Chak, Government Elementary School Saidon Naushera, Government Elementary School Sajjan, Government Elementary School Satyal, Woodland Overseas School, St. Paul Junior Convent School.
He said that the contribution of DDF Zoya Siddiqui, Deputy DEU Dheeraj Kumar, DEU Harjinder Singh, Science Coordinator Ashok Kalia and his team was commendable in achieving this feat.
