
MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa Inaugurates Procurement Operations in Various Mandis
Dera Bassi (S.A.S. Nagar), April 08, 2025: Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa on Tuesday inaugurated procurement operations in Dhanauni, Amlala, Jarot, Tsimbli Mandis of Dera Bassi Sub-Division. Assuring the farmers of all necessary arrangements for the procurement of wheat crop, MLA Randhawa said that as per the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, immediate procurement of dry crops brought to the mandis will be ensured. He formally inaugurated the procurement operation with the first arrival of the farmers of various villages.

Assuring the farmers of all necessary arrangements for the procurement of wheat crop, MLA Randhawa said that as per the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, immediate procurement of dry crops brought to the mandis will be ensured. He formally inaugurated the procurement operation with the first arrival of the farmers of various villages.
Appealing to farmers to bring dry crops to the markets, MLA Randhawa said that this will also help the procurement agencies to expedite the procurement. He said that there are a total of 07 procurement centers in Derabassi constituency and they have already started the procurement in Lalru Mandi. He said that the Punjab government has directed all the procurement agencies to purchase the wheat crop immediately so that the farmers who come to sell their produce in the markets do not face any problem.
The MLA from Derabassi constituency further said that it will be ensured that the payment for the wheat purchased by the concerned agency is made to the accounts of the farmers within 48 hours. Similarly, the purchased wheat will be lifted within 72 hours so that there is no shortage of space in the market.
He appealed to the farmers not to burn the stubble in the fields which is not in the interest of the environment and humanity, but to order crop residue machinery from the nearby society or the agriculture department officer for the management of stubble (crop residue). He appealed to the farmers and the combine harvester operators to harvest the wheat crop only from 10 am to 6 pm so that excess moisture in the crop can be avoided.
On this occasion, Derabassi Market Committee Chairman Kuldeep Singh Chaudhary, DFSC Mohali Navreet Kaur, DFSO Mohali, Secretary Market Committee and the area's arhti, farmers, Aam Aadmi Party Block President, Sarpanch Sahiban were present.
